Busy For Lunch?
There Goes Your Diet
What
meal do most people skip the most? Surprisingly, it's not breakfast
- it's lunch! And experts say missing lunch can lead to a dietary
dead-end.
Nearly
15 percent more people skip lunch than breakfast. Whether it's
due to time constraints during the busy workday or just not
feeling hungry in the middle of the day, more people pass on
lunch.
Nutritionists
say that's an especially bad idea if you're trying to lose some
pounds, because you'll feel hungrier at the dinner time. And
by skipping lunch, your energy level will be lower, affecting
the rest of your workday.
Skipping
a meal signals your body to slow your metabolism down to save
energy. This can make you feel sluggish and is bad news for
dieters. When you reach the dinner table after skipping lunch,
you tend to eat more. Put that together with your body burning
calories at a slower pace and it adds up to more pounds!
So
how can you refuel your body quickly and nutritiously during
the workday? Try storing a few non-perishable lunch options
that are easy to prepare in your desk drawer. For instance,
stock up on microwave meals, as well as dried fruit, nuts and
even some yogurt. Experts say the less you have to prepare,
the more likely you are to stop and eat lunch.
