Nothing says summer
like espadrilles ....

Shoe styles that always remain hot for summer include sandals, wedge heels, espadrilles, flats, stiletto heels, and earthy thongs.

The most obvious choice? Sandals -- ranging in price and style from casual rope sandals to bejeweled and beaded numbers that are fit for royalty. Match the sandal to the occasion (an elegant sandal won't even be out of place at a summer wedding), and let your good taste be your guide. Currently, sandals also come in every color imaginable.

(Finally, if you haven't already heard, those trendy gladiator sandals come with a warning! Although classy and unusual looking, the ankle straps that define gladiator sandals tend to loosen as you walk, resulting in a less than elegant impression.)

For other formal occasions, T-straps are another way to remain looking smart throughout the summer. Open and airy, they are usually secured around the ankle with a strap leading down to the toe leaving the rest of the foot exposed. Choose among various styles ranging from stiletto heel to flats.

flatsSimple open-toe flats are also a great alternative, especially at work, allowing your toes to breath while still remaining stylish. Over the weekend, they will also pair great with anything from skinny jeans to flowing skirts. Also don't forget the more casual ballet or slipper flats which are the ultimate in summer comfort.

For a lot of women and teens, there is nothing that says "summer" like espadrille shoes. You can get them in a natural color for your safari or wild colorful flowers for your cruise. Sneakers? Yes, indeed. The classic in urban wear is the perfect weekend companion with shorts, but remember to choose low tops (also, lose the socks!) and pick from a rainbow of pastel sneaker shades just right for the season.

Have fun!
