Save Your
Energy for Valentine's Day Romance
Valentine's
day can be a bit frustrating if your sweetie just can't see the value in a romantic evening. If
you are out of ideas to spark the fires of love on your Valentine's Day, why not take a different
road to selling the idea of romance?
If you're looking for some convincing
practical reasons for romance, The Ontario Ministry of Energy offers five ways to turn on the
heat this Valentine's Day without turning up the heat.
-
Lower the lights and have a romantic
dinner.
Turn your lights off when they're not needed. Installing compact florescent bulbs will also
cut your lighting bill in half.
-
Cuddle under a fuzzy blanket and
give one to your water heater.
Wrapping your electric heater in a tank blanket reduces the amount of energy it uses.
-
Turn the thermostat down and snuggle.
Turning the thermostat down by 2 degrees when you go to bed and when you leave for the day
saves up to $100 a year.
-
Spend time together and do the dishes
and laundry another day.
Waiting until you have a full load of laundry or dishes before running the machines saves
energy.
- Close the curtains, turn off the
lights and go to bed early.
At night, pull your window coverings closed to avoid warm air from escaping through windows.
Open your window coverings during the day to let the sun warm up rooms.
We need this life of practical romance;
the combination of something that is strange with something that is secure. We need to view the
world as to combine an idea of wonder and an idea of welcome. We need to be happy in this wonderland
without being once merely comfortable.
