Cellar Tours announce ultra-VIP helicopter wine tours from Barcelona.

The air tours provide spectacular bird's eye views of terraced vineyards.

New luxury helicopter wine tours have been launched in association with the famed Priorat wine producer, Costers del Siurana. Cellar Tours are the only company offering such unusual and luxurious tours in Spain’s untouched wine country. The new helicopter tours are targeted at executives and ultra VIPs, and are not for price sensitive clients. The helicopter concept is a completely unique and deluxe wine experience.

“Whereas in Australia, Napa Valley and France, many companies and wineries run these amazing helicopter wine tours, nobody was offering this service in Spain”, explained owner Genevieve McCarthy. “Our customers have pushed us even more upmarket over the last year and we are constantly looking for unusual and super premium wine orientated activities to satisfy our clients, both private and corporate”.

These “Flying Wine Tours” begin with a private flight from Barcelona’s Puerto Olimpico by helicopter to the stunning terraced vineyards of Priorat (where Spain’s most expensive wines are produced), with a champagne toast in the air. The flight lasts about forty minutes each way and takes in such dramatic scenery as the mythical mountains of Montserrat, the sparkling Mediterranean Sea, fishing villages spotting the coast and the rugged National Garraf Park. Upon arrival to the wine region, the pilot actually lands amid the vineyards of Clos de l’Obac, where the charismatic owner Carles Pastrana waits for guests, only to then hop inside the helicopter. Over the next few minutes, Carles explains to the delighted guests, the topography and unique terroir of Priorat, all from the air while gliding over the gentle valleys.

Once on “terra firma”, guests are treated to a 4X4 tour of the vineyards, followed by a private VIP tour of the Clos de l’Obac winery, one of the most prestigious wineries in the world. Guests receive an unbelievable wine tasting (the full range) with the owner himself. A special gastronomic lunch, paired with the elixir wines of Clos de l’Obac are served in the owner’s private restaurant. Carles even joins the VIP clients for this gourmet seven course long lunch, which includes such delicacies as smoked cod carpaccio, Navarre asparragus and cured duck.
