Travel Guide
Turin
With
900,000 inhabitants, the city of Turin
(Torino) is located in the northwest Piedmont
region and usually welcomes nearly 3 million visitors a year,
lured to its most famous attraction, the Shroud
of Turin. Unfortunately, the shroud itself is now rarely displayed
in its home at the Cathedral
of San Giovanni, but there is usually an exhibit that includes
photos and information.
Turin Must-Sees
- Piazza
San Carlo
- a huge, beautiful and stunning public space where you can
admire the 17th century architecture, take a stroll, or sit
and people-watch at one of the outdoor cafes well into the evening
hours.
- Museo
Egizio - if Egyptian art is your thing, check out a world
class collection of art and artifacts including the statues
of Ramses II and Amenhotep II.
- Museo
dellAutomobile - Turin is Italy's version of the Motor
City, so this museum is a must-see for international car aficionados
for its collection of Fiats and other classic cars on display.
- Castello
Ducale di Aglie - Home of the Savoy family since 1764, this
former castle dates back to the Middle Ages, and today is surrounded
by a large park where visitors can enjoy a prime photo opportunity
by the monumental fountain.
