About
the World Series of Poker
The annual
World Series of Poker showdown features such events as Lowball,
Seven-card and Omaha and - the most popular event by far - Texas
Hold 'em. Ultimately,
the world's top poker players battle it out during the last round
in a marathon game of No-Limit
Hold 'em resulting in the winner of that event named WSOP
world champion.
Last year,
Jerry
Yang, a 39-year-old psychologist who admitted to having used
his training to beat the best, won the $8.25 million top prize
at the World Series of Poker. In
2006, Jamie
Gold walked away with the championship title and made history
against the biggest field (more than 8,700 players) to win the
largest jackpot ever totaling $12,000,000.
