Online Tools For Designing Window Treatments

The Internet does more than let you shop for window treatments. There are some sites that actually ley you pick you window type, the colors of your walls and the covering that you want to try.

Add a set of drape and play with the color and length. If that doesn't look right, switch the treatment to blind blinds, shades or many other choices. Try them in dark colors, light colors, sample patterns and pleats. Switch from your living room windows to bedroom or kitchen and start again.

When you're done playing, save the results or request swatches to see if the online tool was right about how that color and texture will look in your home. Of course, the sites that provide the tools hope that you will wind up purchasing the window treatments from them, but there are no commitments and you are free to check prices and order from any dealer... or sew your own version of window treatment.

For those of you who have a subscription to Better Homes & Gardens, there is a window treatment tool on their site that is only for subscribers. There are also popups to distract you. We suggest that you use the other sites that let you create virtual window treatments without having to subscribe or be bothered by annoying popups.
