Currently
with 77 winning seasons, 34 bowl appearances, and ten conference
championships, Auburn has played in the Southeastern Conference
since it began in 1933 and have won six SEC Conference Championships.
Up until 2008,
coach Tommy
Tuberville had led the Tigers since 1999, one of longest tenures
among leaders in the modern day college football scene. This year,
the Tigers will be led by head coach Gene
Chizik who previously coached Auburn's defense as coordinator
from 2002 through the Tigers' last undefeated season in 2004.
