Causing
a media stir on sports pages across the nation in 2007 when they
defeated UCLA
in the Las Vegas Bowl, BYU also currently holds the longest winning
streak in college football with 10 consecutive wins.
In
the final polls of the 2007 season, BYU ranked 14th in both the
Associated Press and USA Today Coaches Poll, marking the highest
finish for the Cougars since finishing No. 5 in 1996. Coming off
another 10-win season in 2008, it was the third consecutive ten-win
season for the Cougars.
Can
they continue their stellar performance? The BYU Cougars are currently
led by head coach Bronco
Mendenhall, who has turned the team (which had not experienced
a winning season since 2001) into one of college football's most
buzzed about.
