In the news recently for winning seasons and star performers, the Florida Gators in the Southeastern Conference's Eastern division play their home games at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium (known as "The Swamp") at the University of Florida in Gainesville.

Urban Meyer was the coach of the Gators for the past four seasons. During that time, the Florida Gators won out over Arkansas in the SEC Championship Game in 2006 and later took the BCS Championship, trouncing the Ohio State Buckeyes 41-14.

While the 2007 season overall proved disappointing, that did not stop starting quaterback Tim Tebow from giving it his personal best, resulting in a handful of post-season awards including the honor of the first underclassman ever to receive the coveted Heisman Trophy.

Tebow also won Best Male College Athlete at the annual Espy Awards in 2008 AND 2009, helping to lead the Gators to a 2008 BCS Championship as Florida went on to beat #1 Oklahoma 24-14.

Most recently, Urban Meyer's career as Florida's coach ended at the Outback Bowl on January 1, 2011, marked by a 37-24 win over Penn State. It was his last game with the Gators following a disappointing 2010 season.

Currently lead up by coach and offfensive coordinator Charlie Weis, Florida is looking to regain its reputation as the ones to beat.

While some college football pundits say going into the 2011-2012 season that the team has lost its snap, Florida fans counter with the argument that it's never safe to ignore a Gator....
