MAIN Football College Football Rutgers Scarlet Knights

Up until recently merely famous for being "the birthplace of college football" (since defeating Princeton in the first ever collegiate football game ...in 1869!) — Rutgers has become the darling of sports pages for several successful seasons.

Getting due credit for all this success is current head coach Greg Schiano who has put Rutgers on the map with three consecutive bowl appearances including finishing with an 11-2 record in 2006, their best ever.
