MAIN Football College Football Rutgers Scarlet Knights

Merely famous for being "the birthplace of college football" (since defeating Princeton in the first ever collegiate football game ...in 1869!) — Rutgers has become the darling of sports pages for several successful seasons.

Getting due credit for all this success is current head coach Greg Schiano who has put Rutgers on the map with four consecutive bowl appearances including finishing with an 11-2 record in 2006, their best ever.

Despite their recent victories, 2010 proved to be a disastrous year for the Scarlet Knights who struggled throughout the season. With nowhere to go but up, Rutgers is definitely on the comeback trail in 2011. Stay tuned.
