While top UCLA basketball usually gets the lion's share of news coverage, UCLA football has a history all its own playing in the storied Rose Bowl stadium in Pasadena (especially in the last game of the season against famous rivals USC.)

Notable UCLA footballers include Troy Aikman, Ken Easley, Maurice Jones-Drew, Mel Farr, Ken Norton Jr. and Randy Cross all claiming UCLA as their alma mater. Actor Mark Harmon and baseball player Jackie Robinson also at one time donned the UCLA blue and gold.

In 2008, former quarterback Rick Neuheisel began his first season as team's head coach following the reign of Karl Dorrell, who led the team from 2003-2007 as the first black coach in UCLA history.

While Neuheisel has led the team to victory since then, last year's performance was a mixed bag of wins and losses in a rollercoaster ride of occasionally strong offense, and consistently weak defense that saw UCLA more in the loss column.

Going into the 2011 season, the Bruins have an uphill battle on the road (including matchups with Oregon State, Stanford, Arizona, Utah and USC) which will only add to the drama as they try to regain their former glory. Can they do it? Watch and wait.
