Virginia Tech has become a powerhouse in the Atlantic Coast Conference thanks to one of the winningest coaches, Frank Beamer - and cheered on by one of the most rabid fan bases in college football.

With their home field in Lane Stadium, (known as one of the best stadiums in the nation, and the most difficult for competitors) the Hokies have reveled in over a decade of success, going to over a dozen straight bowl games.

Since 1993, Virginia Tech has won eighy conference championships and played once in the BCS Championship, losing to Florida State in the 2000 Sugar Bowl. Going into the 2011 season, the Hokies remain at odds with their strengths in terms of national recognition, and always manage to lose a game just as they are on the verge on greatness.

Will they continue to remain comfortable playing out of the spotlight, or will 2011 be the true breakout year for the Hokies? Either way, get ready for some great college football ....
