Toddlers love learning everything about the world around them. So this year, count on organizing a birthday party focused around one of their favorite subjects - numbers!

Depending on the age of the guest of honor, make it an educational theme honoring the number 2, 3, 4 or 5.

Custom invitations can be created using number clipart with a greeting such as "Brought to you by the NUMBER 4!" or "We're counting to 3. Come and party!"

Decorations

  • Tie balloons together in groups of the theme number.
  • Cut out plenty of the theme number from construction paper and hang them on the walls.
  • Save money by buying a plain white paper tablecloth and have guests cover it with the theme number in different colors using crayons. This is a great "kid-busy" activity.

Activities

  • "Pin the number on the number line" is a great version of pin the tail on the donkey.
  • Have cardboard or posterboard cutouts of the number ready for your guests to decorate. Stickers, googly eyes, yarn, pipe cleaners, crayons, and markers are all affordable supplies and will go a long way.
  • Have a contest of who can come up with the theme number amount in categories like 2, (eyes, ears, hands, feet) or have them identify the number of people, animals, or cars in pictures cut out of magazines

Party Foods and Favors

  • Serve party foods like pizza or hot dogs cut up into bit-sized pieces that reflect the theme. Buy a "number candle" and place it on the cake, or write out the number with a frosting tube on individual cupcakes.
  • Send guests home happy with theme goodies bags with the number of party favors stuffed inside reflecting your special number theme.
  • On your thank you notes you can write "1. Thank you!...2. Thank you!..." etc., your favorite number of times. Little guests may see numbers in their sleep, but they will remember your party for years to come!
