Have fun, but stay safe --
especially with kids and
toddlers in attendance.
Invite guests over with homemade invitations using summer theme clip art with invitation wording such as "Splish Splash - There's a Party Goin' On" or "Let's Make Waves!" and be sure to include the where, when and RSVP details.
Before guests arrive, arrange the pool chairs and tables around the pool and have plenty of extra towels available. Also consider providing extra sunscreen, and inexpensive pairs of sunglasses if guests forget to bring their own. If flying bugs are a problem, also set out the cintronella candles or insect repellent.
If small toddlers are on your guest list, be sure to use waterproof tape to clearly mark depths around the pool perimeter. A parent, another designated adult, or older teen also should be on hand to supervise acitivities at all times.
Pool party food and fun
Fire up the grill for your favorite barbecue recipes, or keep it simple with a buffet of finger foods and fresh fruit, and a cooler of cold drinks and fruit juices.
And, it wouldn't really be a party without the party games-- so also have squirt guns or water balloons handy to organize a pool shooting contest, or turn up the music for a hula hoop competition or limbo dance-off!
When the party's over, send guests home happy with party favors such as an inexpensive beach towels, a summer themed canvas tote, swim goggles, plastic sunglasses, or a blow-up beach ball.
