Outlets
Who
doesn't want to save money? And it today's economy, who doesn't
want to go out their way to find a bargain?
Outlet malls
and factory outlets are the answer to paying retail prices in
major cities around the world, thanks to the original outlet store
craze that began some 40 years ago.
Today, outlet
malls are a major travel destination that, if planned just right,
can go towards money savings that just might pay for the entire
trip!
Outlet
shopping tips
If you are
hitting the road this summer with shopping at the top of the list
of major destinations, most experts suggest that you organize
your trip by first scouting Web directories to locate
outlet malls and to discover what will be on sale.
Some outlets
also offer discounts for travel groups who are buying bulk, while
others may schedule special summer sidewalk sales to lure in locals
and tourists. In short, doing your homework before you travel
will go a long way in saving time and money once you arrive.
Designer
clothing outlet malls, along with cameras and electronic gadgets,
are usually on the top of the list of most travelers who want
to shop till they drop.
Even if you're
not traveling this summer, closer to home bargains are available
at any time of year.
Buying local
also means shopping around for free or cheap delivery of bigger
and bulkier items like carpets, furniture and mattresses, to larger
kitchen appliances like washing machines and refrigerators.
But be careful
out there. With the average savings at discount malls and factory
outlets averaging about 37 percent, careful buying might get you
the same discounts at local department store sales. So,
again, it's always best to shop around!
Note, however,
that although products at the outlet malls are already discounted,
shopping by season works the same way at outlets as they do at
department stores. Word to the wise: outlet sales start
around the time department store sales end.
Where
in the world is the outlet mall?
In the US
alone, their are already over 200 outlet malls nationwide. Around
the Web, you can go on a virtual trip to the best discount and
clearance outlet malls to window shop for top designer clothing
& accessories - and at often drastic reductions - on names
like Eddie Bauer, Calvin Klein, Banana Republic, Nike sneakers,
Coach handbags,
and lots more.
The top U.S.
outlet chains let you bargain hunt by other brand names at locations
nationwide - at places like Tangers
Outlets, Prime
Outlets or - perhaps the mother of them all - Chelsea
Premium Outlets which includes popular heavyweights such as
Woodbury
Common on the East Coast, Chicago
Premium Outlets in the Midwest, and Gilroy
Premium Outlets in California.

malls across the continent, joined by a growing number in rapidly
