For many years one of the most common cosmetic surgery procedures, rhinoplasty or "nose job" can also provide the most dramatic change to your overall appearance, whether as a stand alone procedure or in combination with a facelift.

A nose job performed by a competent plastic surgeon can increase or decrease the size of the nose, change the shape of the bridge, or expand or narrow the nostrils.

Rhinoplasty techniques can be performed during a hospital stay or on an outpatient basis, under general or local anesthesia, and generally available for both young and old. Teens are usually advised to wait until they are at least 15 years of age to allow time for the nasal bone to complete its growth.

Side effects of the surgery may include general swelling and temporary bruising around the eyes, and recovery usually takes a week to ten days. However, complete healing may take up to a year when the total result of the procedure becomes completely evident.
