MAIN Health Nursing

Traditionally, nurses were the link between patients and their doctors, but the role is rapidly expanding. You may not recognize the nurse without a white cap and starched white uniform. The men and women in today's nursing profession are more likely to be wearing colorful scrubs and a stethoscope around their necks... but they still maintain the focus on patient care that has been the basis of professional care since the earliest days of nursing.

Nurses are the first members of the health care team that patients see in the doctor's office or hospital. Triage, taking time to talk and find out what is going on with the health and in the lives of their patients, is the first step in diagnosing health problems. Doctors appear to make rounds and visit patients to manage their care, but the momemt to moment caretaking is left in the capable hands of the nursing staff.

Nursing Jobs Online - A premier source of U.S. online job listings and resume postings for nurses and RN's nationwide, together with nursing resources including nursing board directory and related health links.

Association Of periOperatve Registered Nurses - Good resources for nurses and patients includes AORN's Near-Miss Reporting Tool, continuing ed, patent's safety first section among other excellent surgical advisories.

Nursing, Midwifery and the Allied health Professions - UK - Hand selected links and health related searches are the strength of this site. The focus is the UK in the job search, but the linked sites are not limited geographically.

American Association of Occupational Health Nurses (AAOHN) - Plenty of nursing specific resources including CE units, peer mentoring and other professional development opportunities.

NurseTogether.com - This nursing portal is a US resource for jobs and an international space for sharing ideas, getting support and voicing opinions on where the profession is heading.
