If gymnasts are really serious about bringing home the gold, then the Olympic tests can be counted on to really put them through their paces.

Whether the event involves swinging from rings, flying around the uneven bars, exhibiting artistic skills on the floor or balance beam -- gymnastics is always one of the most popular for summer spectators.

Team USA

The women's team is coming on strong of late, led by all-around Olympic veterans Shawn Johnson, Chellsie Memmel, Alicia Sacramone, and Bridget Sloan. The star performer to watch in 2012, however, is 16-year-old sensation Jordyn Wieber who is set to take the Summer Olympics by storm after a thrilling 2011 season capped by a gold medal at the Tokyo world championships.

Meanwhile, the U.S. men's gymnastic team have been the world's strongest and most consistent from 2001-2004, resulting in medal performances at the 2001 and 2003 World Championships and the 2004 Olympic Games.

Currently, the men’s program is rebuilding after USA’s crushing 13th-place finish at the 2006 World Championships and a less than stellar performance at the 2008 Beijing Games.,However, the team remains more determined than ever to shine with medal contentions in the 2012 Summer Olympic Games.
