CT state sealConnecticut collects income tax on its residents in six tax brackets of 3%, 5%, 5.5%, 6%, 6.5% and 6.7%, depending on filing status and income.

Connecticut residents must file their personal income tax Form CT-1040 by April 15. When that date falls on a weekend or holiday, filers get until the next business day to submit their state returns.

This year, the filing deadline to submit 2016 tax returns is Tuesday, April 18, 2017, rather than the traditional April 15 date. Since April 15 falls on a Saturday this year, and Washington, D.C. will celebrate Emancipation Day on that Monday, the deadline will be pushed to the following Tuesday for most of the nation.
