Montana Taxes
Montana imposes state taxes at rates from 1 percent to 6.9 percent, ranging over seven income brackets. Residents are required to file state income taxes using Form 2 each year by April 15. When that date falls on a weekend or holiday, filers get until the next business day to submit their state returns.
NOTE: In 2012, the traditional filing deadline of April 15 falls on a Sunday, and Emancipation Day - a holiday observed in the District of Columbia - falls on Monday. Therefore, the deadline this year for filing taxes is April 17, 2012 giving everyone two extra days to file their taxes.
