New Mexico Taxes
New Mexico collects a state income tax ranging in across four brackets from 1.7 percent to 5.3 percent, depending on income and filing status. New Mexico residents must file personal income taxes using form PIT-1, due by April 15 of each year. When that date falls on a weekend or holiday, filers get until the next business day to submit their state returns.
NOTE: In 2012, the traditional filing deadline of April 15 falls on a Sunday, and Emancipation Day - a holiday observed in the District of Columbia - falls on Monday. Therefore, the deadline this year for filing taxes is April 17, 2012 giving everyone two extra days to file their taxes.
