ohio state sealOhio collects income taxes from its residents at 9 rates ranging from 0.587 to 5.925 depending upon income earned and filing status.

Ohio residents are required to file taxes using forms IT 1040 or IT 1040EZ by April 15 of each year. When that date falls on a weekend or holiday, filers get until the next business day to submit their state returns.

This year, the filing deadline to submit 2016 tax returns is Tuesday, April 18, 2017, rather than the traditional April 15 date. Since April 15 falls on a Saturday this year, and Washington, D.C. will celebrate Emancipation Day on that Monday, the deadline will be pushed to the following Tuesday for most of the nation.
