Ohio collects income taxes from its residents at 9 rates ranging from 0.587 to 5.925 depending upon income earned and filing status. Ohio residents are required to file taxes using forms IT 1040 or IT 1040EZ by April 15 of each year. When that date falls on a weekend or holiday, filers get until the next business day to submit their state returns.

NOTE: In 2012, the traditional filing deadline of April 15 falls on a Sunday, and Emancipation Day - a holiday observed in the District of Columbia - falls on Monday. Therefore, the deadline this year for filing taxes is April 17, 2012 giving everyone two extra days to file their taxes.
