She was all of ten years old when, in 1983, she landed her breakthrough role on the sitcom Who's the Boss? as Tony Danza's daughter Samantha Micelli, and literally grew up before the world in an acting stint that lasted some eight years. Following the cancellation of the hit series in the early 90's, Milano transitioned from child star to adult roles by dropping her "good girl' image to appear in the indie film, Where the Day Takes You, playing a prostitute. Her next more controversial role was as Amy Fisher in Long Island Lolita in 1994 and two years later starred opposite Mark Wahlberg and Reese Witherspoon in the movie thriller, Fear.
Later, Alyssa teamed with Spelling Television to play Jennifer Mancini on Melrose Place, and then, in one of her more succesful TV starring vehicles began an eight-year run as Phoebe Halliwell in the WB hit, Charmed in 1998. Her most recent TV forays have included a starring role in the ill-fated sitcom Romantically Challenged which lasted only four episodes before being cancelled in April 2010. On the big screen, Milano is next slated to star opposite Owen Wilson in the romantic comedy Hall Pass scheduled for a 2011 release. New York born (December 19, 1972) and raised, Alyssa Milano began her acting career
in 1980 at an open audition for the first national tour of Annie.
After months on the road, she was back in New York on off-Broadway,
and later in television commercials.
