TK & RACHEL WIN
The producers of the Emmy winning reality TV series, The Amazing Race, began the 12th season early. The premiere, originally set for January was moved up — to the delight of fans. Hosted again by Phil Keoghan, The Amazing Race kicked off with a Season Premiere on Sunday, November 4 at 8 PM (ET/PT)... What that will do to your holiday party schedule is unfair, so set your DVR to catch the action. That way you can still get to enjoy a bit of non-TV reality time with family and friends. Just watch the teams battle to get to the finish first when you get back home. Hopefully the producers will figure out a way to fit TAR in on time after football and 60 Minutes so everyone can see who came in first! Try setting the recording to include Cold Case as well so you won't get the end cut out. CBS released a press release dealing with the delayed start time problem, "This Fall, when an NFL game runs beyond 7PM, ET, thus causing a delay on the Network, viewers who subscribe to CBS' new viewer-centric marketing initiative, "CBS Eye-Lert," will receive updates via email and text messages if the start time of their program will be delayed. For more information visit link: http://www.cbs.com/eye-lerts/ ." It isn't the perfect answer, but airing after a football game means waiting for the final score before moving to the next program. In the 2007 season all star race, we got to see the best teams, the All Stars, from past seasons. This time there are all new teams. There is a very heavy California presence. All but four teams are from in or around LA. The group as a whole is younger than in other seasons even though the average age is a bit older. The
mix started with a 23 year old pilot and his 68 year old retired grandfather;
a 26 year old policy analyst and her 58 year old VP dad; a married couple, Kate
49 and Pat 65 - both ladies have grown kids from previous relationships and are
Episcopal ministers; a brother and sister team; two very pretty sisters from Miami
in their mid-twenties; a pair of dating Goths from Louisville, KY; and plenty
of other young dating couples and friends. It will be interesting to see how the
stress of the race works in this mixed company. The destinations this season included Ireland; Netherlands; Bukini Faso, Africa; Italy; Lithuania; Croatia; India; Japan; Taiwan and Alaska. The teams will log in over 50,000 miles, with challenges and disappointments mixed in with The Amazing Race tourist destinations. Non-elimination rounds that gave some teams a break in past seasons have been dropped, so there will be a team cut every week. From Taiwan to Alaska, the final three teams headed out on the last leg of the race. Mistake number one - Nike & Don leave their gear behind and have to retrace their steps to pick it up before they can start the first challenge. Ron & Christina get through the first messy chore with plenty of time to spare. Rachel & TK, in good spirits are convinced that they'll pick up time during the challenges... Nike & Donald make up the time they wasted getting the gear back and are still in the race. Next... ice climbing up the face of a glacier gives Chris a hard time. They almost lose their lead as she flounders on the ice, but they pull through and get the first helicopter to the Roadblock. Everyone comes together at the Roadblock and the puzzle stumps them all... Rachel gets the right combination followed by Chris... and then there was a traffic jam. Both teams pull up and run to the finish - greeted by a cheering group of all TAR contestants who've been eliminated... TK & RACHEL WIN!!! This
is one season that kept the scenic nonstop action in high gear and the three finalist
teams are definitely not the ones that were expected when the race began. Next
week we get to see which team is the winner of TAR & the million dollars ... Amazing
