Born
of Irish and Native American descent on February 7, 1978, Christopher
Ashton Kutcher grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Later,
Kutcher reportedly worked his way through a variety of odd jobs
while attending college at the University of Iowa studying biochemical
engineering.
Subsequently
entering - and winning - the Fresh Faces of Iowa contest in 1997,
he dropped out of college to persue a professional modeling career
in New York, eventually working for designers such as Versace
and Calvin Klein.
The following
year, Kutcher moved to Los Angeles and soon appeared in his breakthrough
role on That
70s Show while appearing in minor movie roles in such films
as Down to You and Reindeer Games.
His major
movie breakthrough finally came with a starring role in Dude,
Where's My Car? in 2000 with fellow actor and babe magnet,
actor Seann William Scott.
To the delight
of millions of female fans worldwide, Ashton Kutcher has since
been typecast as the ditsy hunk in a string of movie comedy hits,
with occasional forays into serious roles in dramas such as Texas
Rangers in 2001 and in The Butterfly Effect in 2004.
Meanwhile,
2003 turned out to be a banner year for the handsome young actor,
appearing in such popular comedy film performances as My
Boss's Daughter alongside Tara Reid, and in Just Married
co-starring then girlfriend, Brittany
Murphy, ending the year with a minor role in Cheaper by
the Dozen, starring Steve Martin.
He also enjoyed
phenomenal success with his MTV prank show, Punk'd,
and in 2005 was back on the silver screen in A Lot Like Love
and Guess
Who.
27-year-old
Kucher was also making non-stop tabloid headlines romancing 42-year
old actress Demi
Moore. The couple were finally wed in a ceremony in Beverly
Hills in October 2005.
It
was the first walk down the aisle for Kutcher, who dated actress
Brittany Murphy before he began dating Moore in early 2003. (It
was the third marriage for Moore, who separated from her second
husband, actor Bruce Willis, in 1998.)
Kutcher's
next major movie appearance was as co-star alongside
actor Kevin Costner in the film, The Guardian in 2006.
He later turned his talents to TV producing with the hit comedy
series Miss Guided.
Back on the
big screen in 2008, Ashton Kutcher next appeared in What Happens in Vegas co-starring with Cameron
Diaz, and followed with starring roles in other romantic comedies such as Spread, Valentine's Day and Killers.
Kutcher's talents for online promotion, meanwhile, resulted in major Web notoriety with the most popular Twitter account on the popular social network in 2010.
That same year, Kutcher got top billing for his role in the romantic comedy "Valentine's Day" and next teamed with Katherine Heigl for the romantic action comedy, "Killers", where he played a newlywed with a secret history as a spy. Another romantic comedy followed in 2011 wherein Kutcher co-starred with Natalie Portman in "No Strings Attached".
In May, Kutcher's return to the small screen (to replace Charlie Sheen in the hit TV comedy "Two and a Half Men") was also critically received just as rumors started to swirl about his impending breakup with actress Demi Moore. Kutcher and Moore announced their separation in November.
