Kix Brooks

Born Leon Eric Brooks III on May 12, 1955 in Shreveport, Louisiana, Kix Brooks performed at local clubs all through high school and college before eventually finding his niche in Nashville as a country music songwriter. In 1990, he was introduced to his future music partner by Arista Records executive Tim Dubois.Today, Brooks is also the host of American Country Countdown a syndicated radio program that counts down the current list of top 40 country songs.

Brooks married wife Barbara in 1982, and they have two children, Molly and Eric.

Ronnie Dunn

Born Ronald Gene Dunn on June 1, 1953 in Coleman, Texas, Ronnie Dunn led a nomadic childhood and moved with his mother and truck driver father to four different states. As an adult, Dunn finally settled in Nashville where he met Kix Brooks in 1990 to eventually form an award winning duo that have been at the top of the country music charts ever since. Among Ronnie's stand-alone awards include BMI Country Songwriter of the year and Billboard Magazine country songwriter of the year. In 2005, he was inducted into the Arkansas Music Hall of Fame.

He has been married to his wife, Janine for 17 years and has three children, Whitney, Jesse and Haley.

Together, Brooks & Dunn held the record for number of major industry awards at both the ACM and the CMA Awards when they suddenly announced their split in August 2009. At the time, it was unclear if the pair were plannning to persue solo careers, or form separate bands. Either way, music industry pundits are betting that Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn will be singing for many more years to come.
