Irish and Ecuadorian descent, Christina Maria Aguilera was born
on December 18, 1980, on Staten Island, New York and later moved
with her family to Wexford, Pittsburgh, where Aguilera began performing
at school talent shows.
first TV appearance came at 8 years of age on Star Search
and by 10 she was invited to sing the Star Spangled Banner at
a Pittsburgh Steelers game.
By the late
90's she signed with RCA Records who produced her self-titled
debut album launching her first hit, Genie In A Bottle,
which went on to top the charts both in the U.S. and Britain. Aguilera followed
that with her second album, Stripped, which featured top
hits such as Dirrty and Beautiful.
In 2005, Aguilera announced her engagement to long-time boyfriend and music
Bratman who presented the pop star with a 20-karat diamond
ring worth $54,000. In
November, the couple's anticipated wedding was reported by People
magazine to have taken place in California's Napa Valley with
Aguilera taking her wedding vows in a Christian Lacroix wedding

The following year, the pop star posed nude for her famous GQ
magazine photoshoot and later released her third
album, "Back to Basics", and from that album won a Grammy
Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for "Ain't
No Other Man". She was also a front runner in a list of nominees
for the MTV
Video Music Awards.
the pop sensation gave birth on January 12, 2008 to her first
baby, a boy named Max Liron Bateman, with husband Jordan Bratman. The couple later received $1.5 million
for Max's first
baby photos by People Magazine. (Bratman and Aguilera later announced plans to divorce in 2010.)

Meanwhile, that same year her big screen debut came in an appearance as small town girl Ali Rose in the film version of "Burlesque" in which she performed eight of the musical numbers from the film's soundtrack.
In 2011, Aguilera made an even bigger splash on the small screen when she joined the cast of the popular reality competition show, "The Voice" on NBC in which she regularly performed with fellow judges Maroon 5's Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green, and Blake Shelton (she later left the show but continues backstage as a coach to aspiring singing stars.)
In other collaboration, the singer also featured on the Maroon 5's mega-hit single "Moves Like Jagger" earning Aguilera her fifth number one single on the Billboard Hot 100.
She later appeared on the re-recorded version of single "Say Something", a duet with A Great Big World from their debut studio album Is There Anybody Out There? for which she won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 2015 Grammy Awards.
Meanwhile, following her divorce from Jordan Bratman, Aguilera announced her engagement in 2014 to Hollywood movie production assistant Matt Rutler (whom she met on the set of "Burlesque" in 2010.) The couple has one child together, a daughter, born in August 2014.
