It looks like
Disney has done it again! Families have fallen in love with Enchanted.
A fairytale that comes to life not only in the heart of Manhattan
but in the hearts of all who see it!
In the far-off
land of Andalasia, Giselle (Amy Adams) is thrown into a well by
the evil queen (Susan Sarandon) to keep her from marrying Prince
Edward (James Marsden), the man of her dreams.
When Giselle
climbs out of a manhole in Manhattan her life begins to, um, change.
Prince Edward,
being a true hero, jumps in after her and climbs out of the same
manhole so he can rescue her and bring her back. Of course, the
evil queen cannot have that, so she manipulatively gets Nathaniel,
her lackey, to jump in and stop the Prince. The movie would not
have been as funny if the little chipmunk, Pip, hadn't jumped
in with the Prince and been his helper along the way.
Divorce lawyer
Robert (Patrick Dempsey) and his daughter Morgan (Rachel Covey)
are the first people to help Giselle after her unique arrival
to NYC. Giselle tries to help Robert. His relationship with Nancy
(Idina Menzel) lacks a certain something and he, being a divorce
lawyer, just isn't sure that he can be with one person for the
rest of his life. What happens?
Robert learns
that love can be forever and Giselle learns that love can be real.
Never fear, the Prince still gets the girl. Just a different one.
"This
is definitely one to buy!" my children informed me as we
left the theater. They loved the chipmunk, the working song where
all the city "animals" come to help when Giselle calls,
not to mention the entire soundtrack. Of course Giselle's dresses
were always perfect and pretty. Even drenched in the pouring rain
Giselle is beautiful.
In Enchanted,
we get to see the romantic dreams of grown up girls and boys change
and become a reality. Everyone wins. No one is left holding the
bag except the evil queen who deserved it anyway.
It really
is just a feel good movie that renews the hope that the person
you were made for is out there and there is someone for everyone.
But be prepared, you might have to travel ...
