The enduring saga of Luke and Laura Spencer (Anthony Geary and Genie Francis) continues. General Hospital is the longest-running dramatic serial on the ABC Television Network. In May of 2000 General Hospital broke the record as the only daytime drama to ever receive the coveted Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama series a record seven times, making that the show's fifth win in six years.

Luke and Laura's wedding ceremony 25 years ago won the biggest audience ever for a daytime soap. More than 30 million viewers tuned in to see the dress and tissue boxes passed from hand to hand in offices and college dorms throughout the USA.

The script writers have been rough on Luke and Laura Spencer. She was kidnapped, divorced Luke and went into a catatonic state after she killed her stepfather. Luke became involved with organized crime and was accused of murder. Their daughter became deathly ill.

Long time fans are delighted that with recent medical research on reviving coma patients, a new doctor found a cure. Laura is back and going strong. She and Luke are back together and the best news yet is that Genie Francis, the actress who played Laura in 2002 is the one who emerged from the coma.

General Hospital is back in the number 1 spot with daytime TV fans.
