2006 in Pictures

The star-studded awards show aired on Monday, January 16, 2006 from 8-11 PM (EST) live from the Beverly Hilton on NBC.

For TV fans, the big news was that all four Desperate Housewives actresses were roundly shut out by Mary-Louise Parker, who won for Best TV Actress for "Weeds".

However, one of the Housewives, Felicity Huffman, was victorious in another category - for Best Dramatic Actress in her starring film role in "Transamerica."

In other awards, Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon walked away with Best Actor and Best Actress for Musical or Comedy respectively for their work in "I Walk the Line" - the film which also took Best Picture, Musical or Comedy.

One winner previously announced was Anthony Hopkins, who in a touching tribute received the Cecil B. DeMille Award for his "outstanding contribution to the entertainment field."

Presenters included an array of Hollywood greats incuding Gwyneth Paltrow, Rene Zellweger, Jessica Alba, Catherine Deneuve, Leonardo DiCaprio, Clint Eastwood, Harrison Ford, Drew Barrymore, Jamie Foxx and Queen Latifah.
