Pop Culture Reality TV Growing up Gotti
First airing on cable channel A&E in 2004, Growing Up Gotti showcased the intimate family life of a Mafia Princess and her three teenage sons.
The Gotti hotties and their mom spent money, traveled, and fought together in front of a viewer base that climbed as high as 3.2 million at its peak. Faltering in the ratings a year later. A & E finally pulled the plug on the reality TV show at the end of 2005.
Loyal fans missed looking forward to another season of exciting squabbles, delusional parenting and, of course, the ever-present subtitles. Thank goodness for subtitles. How did they understand each other???
Girls loved them... the Armani-clad, gel-haired, and thoroughly tanned John Gotti Agnello, Carmine Gotti Agnello, and Frank Gotti Agnello were (and remain) the Gotti brothers - the New York version of royalty and scandal all rolled into one screaming and fighting bundle of Italian Stallion. Each one had their unique selling points, blue contact lenses and all...
Where are they now?
Carmine Gotti Agnello, the oldest, was a shy and reserved 19 year old when the show aired. He opened a restaurant chain with younger brother John called Ciao Bella. He attended C.W. Post in New York.
John Gotti Agnello graduated from high school at the top of his class and headed off to college.
Frank Gotti Agnello, publisher of a diet book, opened a tanning salon called Gotti Tans. This kid is an entrepreneur in the making - and the most likely to succeed on Celebrity Apprentice one day.
Meanwhile, the matriarch of the family, Victoria Gotti, has beaten him to it -- as she joins the Apprentice cast during the 2012 season.
In its last season, the Gottis were off on a
trip to Italy, where the brothers were challenged
to rekindle the spirit and memory of their grandfather, Dapper Don John Gotti, Sr. The grandkids' fame preceded them in the Old Country where they were treated like celebrities.
While the show might have gone on to oblivion, that didn't end interest in the family. Fans still go online to catch photos and news on the Gotti hotties and their
shopping spree loving mom....
