Most recently in the news for divorcing her husband, Nick Lachey, hot pop singer Jessica Simpson was born and raised in Dallas, Texas.

She began her performing career in a church choir, and became a hit on the Christian Youth Conference circuit, later signing with Sony and touring with the hit boy band 98° where she met her future husband, 98° singer Nick Lachey.

Her first major hit, I Wanna Love You Forever, appeared on her debut album, Sweet Kisses in 1999. She went on to appear in episodes of That 70s Show, and gained even great notoriety when she and Lachey appeared on the MTV reality show, Newlyweds, chronicling the pop couple's first year of marriage. Her apparent ditzy at-home behavior soon established Simpson as one of America's favorite dumb blondes.

In 2005, Simpson appeared in her first major movie role as Daisy Duke in The Dukes of Hazard (movie trailer) opposite Seann William Scott and Johnny Knoxville.

In early 2006, Simpson made a national TV appearance as the opening act on the People's Choice Awards, performing her hit "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'" from The Dukes of Hazzard which won this year's award for Favorite Song from a Movie.

Keeping busy following her much-publicized divorce, Simpson has created lots of Web buzz over a hot photo spread in a recent issue of Maxim magazine, and made yet another big screen appearance in the comedy Employee of the Month,

On the small screen, Simpson hosted the Teen Choice Awards on FOX Television in August, 2006 shortly before the debut of her new album, A Public Affair on August 29.

Later in the year, the singer made a famous flub at the Kennedy Center Honors when, in a tribute to Dolly Parton, she forgot the lyrics to the Parton hit "9 to 5" and appeared on the verge of tears on stage afterward.

Simpson later retaped her faulty performance for the televised show, which aired on December 26 on CBS. However, the singer/actress later requested to be dropped from the show entirely when her second attempt at the song also proved unsuccessful.

In more recent antics, the pop star has made headlines in the U.S. for her purported jinx on current boyfriend, Dallas Cowboys star Tony Romo. The star quarterback exhibited the worst performance in his carer in a December 2007 game against the Philadelphia Eagles as Simpson watched from a box seat wearing a pink No. 9 jersey.
