The Jonas Brothers
|
The
newest and most popular band on the pop-rock scene, the Jonas
Brothers hail from Wyckoff, New Jersey and are made up of three
brothers: Kevin, (born Paul Kevin on November 5, 1987) Joe, (born
Joseph Adam on August 15, 1989) and Nick Jonas (born Nicholas
Jerry on September 16, 1992).
With
such hits as Burning Up, SOS, Pushing Me Away, Hold On, and Year
3000, the band promises even more hits on the way to the delight
of fans around the planet.
As
their new album "A Little Bit Longer" is slated for
release on August 12, 2008 the Jonas Brothers have become a verifiable
pop culture phenomenon among the tween and teen set. Begun
by brother Nick as a solo act, the band was formed by Columbia
Recoreds in 2005 after an executive heard a demo recording featuring
all three brothers. Their debut album "It's About Time"
was released the following year.
However,
with sales worldwide reaching only half a million, Columbia dropped
the fledgling band (now, apparently, to their regret) and the
band was picked up by Hollywood Records, for whom they have recorded
for ever since.
Their
self-titled second album released in 2007 reached over 1 million
in sales and in a week's time the number 5 spot on the Billboard
Hot 200.
Fueled by
appearances on MTV, guest appearances with Hannah
Montana, and performances during the 2007 Miss
Teen USA, the Jonas Brother's career continues to skyrocket
into 2008.
This summer,
with starring roles in the Disney Channel movie Camp
Rock, the group also have multiple nominations at the 2008
Teen
Choice Awards and are scheduled for a featured appearance
at the 2008 MTV
Video Music Awards in September.
Upcoming projects
include J.O.N.A.S!
(Junior Operatives Networking As Spies), starring the Jonas Brothers
as a group of government spies, and slated to debut this fall
on the Disney Channel. In 2009, watch for the trio to begin filming
the sequel to their Disney Channel movie hit, Camp Rock 2, and
the premiere of Jonas
Brothers - The 3D Concert Experience.
While not
touring, all three brothers still report back to their mom and
dad, Paul Kevin Jonas Sr. and Denise Jonas. They also have a younger
brother, Frankie
Jonas, who was born on September 28, 2000. He is now known
as the "Bonus Jonas" and leads his own band, Webline,
which he claims his older brothers will be opening for someday.
