Born January 31, 1981 in Memphis, Tennessee, Justin Timberlake's show business career began early with a TV debut at age 11 on the 80's talent competition show, Star Search, which he ultimately lost.
His first big break came later when he was cast in The New Mickey Mouse Club, where he first met and worked alongside his future girlfriend, Britney Spears, along with future fellow 'N SYNC star, JC Chasez and
pop star Christina Aguilera.
Mousketeer days coming to a close, Timberlake and JC Chasez joined
up to form what was to become 'N
SYNC, one of the biggest boy bands of the decade.
way, Timberlake began producing and co-writing various tracks,
ultimately leading to a solo album, Justified that resulted
in a string of top ten hits including Like I Love You, Rock
My Body and Cry Me A River, rumored to be about his
breakup with Britney Spears.
In 2004, he
was suddenly swept up in tabloid headlines when he appeared alongside
Jackson during her now-infamous "wardrobe
malfunction" during the Super Bowl halftime game televised
around the world. In
2006, Timberlake shook off the scandal by topping the charts at
No. 1 with his mega-hit album, FutureSex/LoveSounds, and
later took on hosting duties for the MTV
Europe Music Awards in November.
In addition to a stellar music career, Timberlake has starred in such Hollywood films as "The Social Network"
(2010); with Cameron Diaz in "Bad Teacher" (2011) and in the romantic comedy, "Friends with Benefits (2012).
Timberlake was romantically linked with actress Cameron
Diaz up until a breakup in early 2007. However, their association
continued on film, at least, when he appeared in the cast list
the Third in which Diaz reprised her role as Princess
Fiona, with Timberlake as the voice of Artie (a young King Arthur).
year, he received four nominations at the 49th annual Grammy
Awards, and was back in Hollywood with a starring role
in the feature film, Alpha Dog.
In 2010, Timberlake was back on the big screen in the Mark Zuckerberg biopic, The Social Network, followed by a co-starring role opposite Cameron Diaz in Bad Teacher in 2011. Other recent film roles have included co-starring with Mila Kunis in Friends with Benefits (2011) and Inside Llewyn Davis (2013).
Nearly a year
after breaking up with Cameron Diaz, Timberlake began dating actress
Jessica Biel, and throughout the relationship rumors spread of
their impending marriage. The Justin-Jessica Wedding Watch included reports that the couple had, indeed, become engaged in late 2011. The surprise wedding announcement came the following year when the couple were reportedly married in Italy in October 2012. (Jessica later gave birth to their first child, Silas, born in April 2015.)
By early 2013, Timberlake signaled his return to the recording studio with his mega-hit, "Suit and Tie", a duet with rapper Jay-Z, from his highly successful comeback album, “20/20 Experience."
Timberlake later returned to Hollywood to voice the lead character in DreamWorks Animation's "Trolls" (2016), that featured a hit soundtrack that included his chart-topping single, "Can't Stop the Feeling!".
Most recently, buzz is swirling over Timberlake as headliner for the upcoming 2018 Super Bowl halftime show. It will be Timberlake's second appearance on the halftime stage since his infamous appearance with Janet Jackson in 2004.
