Miami Ink is a tattoo shop on Miami's South Beach, and one of the hottest reality shows on TLC. Take a walk on the tattoo side of life every Tuesday at 8 pm.

On July 19, 2005 we were introduced to Ami James - the tough guy, and Chris Nuñez - the ladies' man, the owners of the shop, and artists Chris Garver - the intellectual big brother, Darren Brass - the loveable one, and the apprentice Yoji Harada.

Ami, Chris, Darren, and Garver have been friends for ten years. They all learned the ropes of tattooing under the world famous tatoo artist Lou Sciberras. They all dreamed of reuniting one day and opening a shop together. After years of each of them opening and running their own tattoo shops, that dream has become a reality.

Every week we get to see the inner workings of the tattoo world and just how important each tat is to the person wearing it. Miami Ink takes us through the process from the beginning, a sketch or an idea, and shows the finished work of these talented tattoo artists by featuring customers and their story and motivations for their tattoos.

Not only do we see the guys (and gal, Kat who has moved on to LA Ink) at work, but we also see the playful, family side of their lives. These artists take tattooing seriously. It is not just a job but a passion for all of them. With this show and their new business they hope to pass the passion and beauty of tattoo art on to others.

Trivia note: The main musical theme for the show is "Funky Kingston" by Toots and the Maytals.

Tats used to be only for bikers, truck drivers, or bad boys. As you can see on Miami Ink, the rise in popularity of tattoos has changed and the diversity of clientel has broadened tremendously. Anyone from a housewife/mother of three children to Bam Margera or Mark Zupan can get tattooed at Miami Ink. The televeision viewers are drawn in week after week to see not only the shananigans of the tattoo crew but also to see whose intricate story will be made permanent next.
