Most recently in the news for a high-profile DUI arrest in LA, the former O.C. actress was born Mischa Anne Barton in London, England on January 24, 1986.

She later moved with her family to New York City where, as the story goes, she was bitten by the acting bug as a child in summer camp - performing theatrical monologues for parents' night.

The young actress quickly made the leap to Off Broadway as a precocious child star.

By 1994, she landed the role of Lily, in the hit soap opera All My Children, and later signed on with the Ford Modeling Agency where she was in demand by the likes of Calvin Klein, Gitano and Vogue.

Film roles followed, most notably alongside Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant in Notting Hill, and in The Sixth Sense opposite Bruce Willis, in which she played one of the menacing young ghosts.

Following a variety of minor film roles, Barton was back again on the small screen in the ABC hit, Once and Again in 2002.

In addition to her starring role as Marissa Cooper in the primetime hit FOX television show, The O.C. opposite Benjamin McKenzie, she has also made an appearance in Enrique Iglesias' video, Addicted.

Barton's role was eventually eliminated in The O.C. following rumors that the actress was eager to leave the show to star in more Hollywood movie roles.

Her next big screen appearance was in 2007, in Virgin Territory, which opened in France in December. That same month, Barton made worldwide headlines for her offscreen performance in a DUI incident as her police mug shot made the Internet rounds following her arrest in California.

She next co-stars in the upcoming high school movie, The Sophomore, scheduled for April 2008 release and in the indie thriller, The Homecoming.
