Miss Earth Pageant 2009
The
9th annual Miss Earth beauty pageant was held at the Boracay Ecovillage
Resort and Convention Center, in the Island of Boracay, Philippines
on November 22, 2009.
This
year, Miss
Brazil Larissa Ramos, 20, a biology student, won the crown
as Miss Earth 2009.
Delegates
to the Miss Earth pageant number more than 80 contestants every
year, hailing from such places as Afghanistan to Zimbabwe, the
USA... to the UK, and every country in between!

During their
3-week stay, Miss Earth delegates promote environmental advocacy
in nearby communities, and compete in the traditional pre-pageant
events such as Long Gown, Swimsuit, Talent and National Costume
competitions.
Throughout
the year, the current Miss Earth will be kept busy attending to
her obligations as the Ambassador of Mother Earth in promoting
the care and protection of the environment.
