MAIN Art & Culture Pop Culture Miss Teen USA 2007

The 25th annual Miss Teen USA Pageant was held live on August 24, 2007 in Pasadena, California and aired on NBC at 8PM ET/PT.

Hosting the show was "Dancing with the Stars" semi-finalist Mario Lopez, joined by stage performances by Kat DeLuna with a rendition of her hit "Whine Up" and Jonas Brothers performing a medley of their hits "Hold On" and "S.O.S." during the telecast.

This year's winner, brunette beauty Hilary Carol Cruz, hails from Colorado. She won the coveted title after having competed last year in her first-ever attempt at vying for a beauty pageant crown, when she won Miss Colorado Teen USA.

Making even more news in 2007 was third runner-up Miss South Carolina, Lauren Caitlin Upton, who badly mangled a response to a question posed to her during the competition, and now immortalized forever on a popular YouTube video.

Following the flub, Upton recovered from her 'blond moment' during a post-pageant interview with "Well personally, my friends and I, we know exactly where the United States is on our map. I don't know anyone else who doesn't. And if the statistics are correct, I believe there should be more emphasis on geography."

Throughout the two-hour event, contestants from across America compete in categories that included swimsuit, evening gown, and interview.

The big moment finally arrives as the top five finalists are picked from a jury of celebrity judges - who choose the next reigning Miss Teen USA before an estimated TV viewing audience of 250 million.
