Miss Universe 2015
Miss France, Iris Mittenaere,
is the reigning Miss Universe.

The most beautiful women in the world took center stage at this year's landmark 65th Miss Universe beauty pageant when more than 80 contestants from around the world competed for the crown of Miss Universe 2016.

The Miss Universe Pageant was televised on January 29, 2017 at 7PM ET on FOX from the Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay, Metro Manila, Philippines.

Returning to host this year's festivities was comedian and TV personality Steve Harvey.

The winner? It was Miss France, Iris Mittenaere, who took the crown at the end of the night's festivities, followed by Miss Colombia, Andrea Tovar, who was the first runner up and Raquel Pelissier, Miss Haiti, who was the second runner-up.

Last year's winner? It was ultimately Miss Philippines, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, who took the crown -- but not before host Steve Harvey recovered from an epic blunder when he announced the winner as first runner-up, Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez.

The mistakenly-crowned Gutierrez  celebrated her victory for more than two minutes before the mistake was realized. That's when Harvey took the stage to announced his blunder as the crown was taken from a teary-eyed Miss Colombia and placed on the head of Miss Philippines.

Shortly following, Tweets and Facebook posts flooded the Internet that either villified or made fun of Harvey's blunder which resulted in the most awkward Miss Universe wins ever!

Pia Wurtzbach, Miss Philippines, WINNER
Ariadna Gutiérrez, Miss Colombia, 1st runner up
Olivia Jordan, Miss USA, 2nd runner up
Monika Radulovic, Miss Australia, 3rd runner up
Flora Coquerel, Miss France, 4th runner up

All about Miss Universe

Featuring more than 80 delegates from around the world, Miss Universe remains one of the world's most watched and most popular beauty pageants.

What began in 1952 - as a local bathing beauty competition in Long Beach, CA - has since grown to be a Donald Trump organization showcase that puts the spotlight directly on the world's most beautiful women.

Following the evening gown competition, judges pick the Top 10 who go on to show off their best assets in the traditional and very popular swimsuit competition, from which the Top 5 are chosen... culminating in the crowning of Miss Universe.
