Music stars the world over gathered in Belfast, Ireland this year at the Odyssey Arena to celebrate the 18th annual MTV Europe Music Awards.

2011 Best Video winner: Born This Way

Nominees were announced on September 20, 2011. The live awards show aired - on MTV and online - on November 6, 2011 beginning at 3PM ET in the US.

Hosting this year's awards was singer and actress Selena Gomez, with live performances by Coldplay, Jesse J, LMFAO, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Among this year's nominees, Lady Gaga led the pack with a total of six nominations including Best Song for "Born This Way." She was in hot competition with Adele ("Rolling in the Deep") and Katy Perry ("Firework") for the nights biggest award.

The MTV Europe Music Awards introduced a new award in 2011 recognizing the "Biggest Fans" of the world's most celebrated music artists, with inaugural nods going to Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga, and Paramore.
