Prince Harry
In the news in 2007 over news he would be deployed to serve in
Iraq (with those orders
later rescinded) Prince Harry later trained
in Alberta, Canada with other British troops for possible
deployment to Afghanistan.
According
to reports by the British press, he had been secretly
serving in the Afghan war zone since December 2007, but was
called home shortly after the news leaked. This, to avoid the
prince becoming "a high-value target for al-Qaida and other
Islamist militants."
In
a video filmed during his training, Harry later made headlines
when he was overheard calling one trainee "our little Paki
friend" and another officer a "raghead". While
some argue that it is much ado about nothing (the army is rife
with off-handed jocular insults) the incident sparked world headlines
- and recalled an even more outrageous stunt in which the prince
appeared at a 2005 party in full Nazi uniform.
Harry
is third in line to the British throne after his father, Prince
Charles and elder brother, William,
and in recent years has been closely watched in the tabloids regarding
his romantic relationship and possible marriage to South African
girlfriend, Chelsy
Davy.
Subsequent
reports of a breakup
between Harry and Chelsy were quickly followed by more news
& rumors about Harry
and Chelsy getting back together again in November 2007.

Born Henry
Charles Albert David Mountbatten-Windsor on September 15, 1984,
and better known to friends and family as Harry, he is the second
son of Prince
Charles and the late Princess
Diana,
Prince Harry
was introduced to the world as the "shy one" of Charles
and Diana's two sons.
As Harry grew
up, the press was quick to point out his uncanny resemblance to
an admitted lover of Princess Diana, army officer Major
James Hewitt. The accusation was vehemently denied by Princess
Diana while she lived, as well as by Hewitt, who today continues
to refute the allegation that he may be Harry's father.
At 12, Harry
lost his mother to a tragic car crash in Paris, when both he and
brother William participated in escorting Princess Diana's coffin
through the streets of London to Westiminster Abbey.
At
the time, Harry was struggling academically, but passed entrance
exams to Eton College, the traditional school of the royals. He
eventually graduated in 2003.
All the while,
quiet Harry had grown to be a typically rambunctious teenager.
On more than
one occasion he has attracted the attention of the tabloid press
for drug use, recklessness at sporting events, or scuffles
with paparazzi.
In January,
2005 photographs were beamed around the world depicting Harry's
attendance at a friend's party in full Nazi regalia, resulting
in a public
apology by Harry for his "poor choice" of party
costume.
The
following year, Harry once again made tabloid headlines when he
and brother William were spotted by photographers partying it
up in a trendy London nightclub.
In August
2007, the prince's reputation for hard drinking and frequent clubbing
was again at the center of an unflattering front page profile,
this time by Radar Magazine.
Harry is a
skilled polo player and an avid rugby fan. He has been romantically
linked in the past to Zimbabwean girlfriend Chelsy
Davy, with rumors swirling of an impending wedding, followed
by news of a breakup.
The split
reportedly occurred quickly, following Chelsy's move from her
native South Africa to permanent residence in the UK, ostensibly
to take up post-graduate studies at Leeds University. The real
reason, close friends said, was to take their long-distance romance
to the next level, although the geographic closeness apparently
had an opposite effect.

Harry
secretly served in
Afghanistan from December
2007 to February 2008.

Several weeks
later, rumors were widespread that Harry and Chelsy's relationship
was once again back on, following reports that Chelsy was spotted
arriving at the prince's official London resident, Clarence House.
Most recently,
the third-in-line to the British throne (who has repeatedly and
publically claimed that he wanted no special treatment as an army
soldier) was apparently happy to be serving in Afghanistan when
news leaked of his presence on on the war front, and was subsequently
called home.
Prince Harry had been secretly serving on the Afghan war front
since December 2007.
