Born Nicollette Sheridan in Worthing, Sussex, UK on November 21, 1963, the current star of the hit TV show Desperate Housewives followed in the footsteps of her noted grandmother, English actress Dinah Sheridan.

The younger Sheridan's TV career began in 1984, when the actress appeared in the short-lived Paper Dolls, later appearing on the silver screen the next year opposite John Cusack in The Sure Thing.

Following several appearances in forgettable made-for-TV movies, Sheridan's breakthrough role came in 1986 as icy, manipulative Paige Matheson on the prime-time soap, Knot's Landing, providing the show with its most memorable character and best ratings in its history.

The 90's saw a high profile marriage to, and subsequent divorce, from actor Harry Hamlin - as the actress returned to less than memorable roles in both TV and films.

However, a spectacular return as resident-vixen, Edie Britt, in Desperate Housewives was followed by a steamy and controversial Monday Night Football promo (video clip) in which she appears to bare all for football bad boy, Terrell Owens.

The actress was also in the media spotlight when she topped 2004's Worst Dressed List, a dubious honor bestowed a year earlier on Paris Hilton.

Sheridan announced wedding plans in 2005, but in October called off her engagement to Swedish-born actor boyfriend, Nicklas Soderblom.

In March 2006, she was finally reported to have become engaged to singer Michael Bolton with (whom she has had a on-again off-again relationship for ten years), although their marriage plans fizzled shortly thereafter.

The TV star made worldwide buzz in 2009 when it was announced she would be appearing on the arm of Richard Lugner at the Opera Ball in Vienna. Past 'eye candy" pursued by the 76-year-old Austrian real estate mogul have included Paris Hilton and Carmen Electra.
