With its first broadcast on July 15, 1968 One Life To Live was created by Agnes
Nixon. She settled the Lord familiy, the Siegels, the Rileys,
and the Woleks in the fictional city of Llanview, Pennsylvania.
The character of Victoria Lord remained at the center
of One Life to Live as ded the actress who played her, Erika
Slezak, from 1971 through the television finale in 2012 and again in the online revival in 2013.She also single-handedly garnered the show six
Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama
Series.
The spotlight is shared with the other families in Llanview:
the Buchanans, Rapaports, Gannons, Holdens and Cramers, among
others.
There were many crossovers over the years between One Life
to Live and All
My Children, including a 2004 baby switch story that took
forever to wrap up. It involved One Life to Live's Cramers and
Buchanans, and All My Children's Chandlers, Kanes and Martins.
One Life to Live dealt with as many different topics as it had
characters - with storylines that included groundbreaking interracial couples to gay relationships.
