André 3000, (born André Benjamin on May 27, 1975 in Atlanta, Georgia - a.k.a. Dré) is only one half of the "odd couple" hip-hop duo OutKast ...

... Big Boi, (born Antwan Patton on February 1, 1975 in Savannah, Georgia) is the other half.

Blending two totally different music styles together Outkast have become a major creative force in rap.

Initially attending the same high school in Atlanta - where they helped hone their individual styles competing with one another in frequent rap contests - the duo formed Outkast shortly graduation, and were quickly signed to the LaFace label, releasing their hit single, Player's Ball, which eventually hit number one on the rap charts. Their almost instant success led to a full-length album, southernplayalisticadillacmuzik released in 1994 and subsequently garnered Outkast the Best New Rap Group of the Year at the 1995 Source Hip Hop Awards.

Another platinum album, ATLiens, was released the following year spinning off such monster single hits as Elevators (Me & You) followed by the double platinum album, Aquemini, in 1998 and the triple platinum Stankonia in 2000 featuring hits such as B.O.B. and their first pop single, Ms. Jackson.

Their double album, Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, features Big Boi's rap compositions on Speakerboxxx and André 3000's mostly sung vocals on The Love Below. It has been their biggest critical and commercial hit to date having won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year in 2003 and resulting in two huge hit singles, Big Boi's The Way You Move and André's Hey Ya!

In 2005, Andre 3000 branched out into film acting, with a starring role alongside Mark Wahlberg in the crime drama Four Brothers.
