The "That's Hot" pop icon and madcap heiress most recently in the news for her mock Presidential campaign, first began making tabloid headlines when she burst onto the social and Hollywood scenes in the late 90's.

Born in New York City on February 17, 1981 to real estate mogul Richard Hilton and former actress Kathy Richards, (see I Want to Be a Hilton ) Hilton was predictably spoiled and pampered from childhood.

Today, Hilton and younger sister, Nicky Hilton, with whom she is often mentioned, are known for their jet-set lifestyles and madcap, party-girl antics.

However, it is big sister who later became more famous for her appearance in the reality show Simple Life that depicts the heiress pathetically out of place in the real world.

Even more famously - just before the Simple Life first aired in 2003 - Hilton's then-boyfriend, Rick Solomon, released a Web video showing the couple in a very intimate moment. It caused an instant Internet sensation and, coincidently, the Simple Life's ratings to skyrocket.

Today, Hilton continues to raise eyebrows in tabloid reports on her latest escapades.

In 2005, Hilton made the first of many headlines that year when a computer hacker broke into her cell phone and published her personal photographs and celebrity-laden phone directory on the illmob.org Web site.

The really big news followed soon after, however, when People magazine published reports that the heiress had become engaged to boyfriend, Paris Latsis, 27-year-old heir to the Latsis shipping fortune.

However, the news was short-lived when, in September 2005, the offical announcement was made that heralded the sudden breakout between Paris Hilton and Paris Latsis.

Hilton next dated yet another Greek shipping heir, 19-year-old Stavros Niarchos and is said to be currently dating Desperate Housewive's hunk, Josh Anderson.

In October, her association with the Simple Life reality series was thrown in doubt after FOX cancelled plans for a fourth series arising from an ongoing feud between Hilton and co-star Nicole Richie.

However, it was later announced that E! Entertainment Television had picked up the series with the fourth Simple Life season, subtitled Till Death Do Us Part, which debuted in spring of 2006.

Hilton has been most recently in the tabloids for a series of DUI citations and faces 45 days in jail for violating the terms of her probation for an alcohol-related reckless driving conviction in January 2007.

That sentence was cut in half, then lessened to house arrest, before a judge ordered the heiress back to jail. A crying and screaming Hilton was then hand-cuffed and whisked off to the Lynwood jail where she carried out the rest of her sentence.

Following her first foray into Hollywood films House of Wax in 2005, Hilton next starred in the 2008 film comedy, The Hottie and The Nottie, now destined to go down in history as one of the worst movies ever made.
