if in the middle of your saying "I do"... the Justice of the Peace at your wedding answered a call on the cell phone?
How about a wedding planner who starts opening gifts and writing thank you notes during the reception?
Arriving at the wedding chapel to find that it's been double booked?
Having police or sky divers pop in unannounced to disrupt the wedding?

Does it sound like a wedding couple's worst nightmares? Relax, they're in on it. It's the NBC series, The Real Wedding Crashers.

The movie, The Wedding Crashers, was such a hit that it was bound to wind up in a reality TV format sooner or later.

Craig Plestis, Senior Vice President, Alternative Programming, Development and Specials, NBC Entertainment made the announcement in August of 2006 that NBC was picking up the idea for a Spring series.

The season will premiere on Monday, April 23, 2007 at 10 PM ET - 9 PM CT with Jonnie and Derek's wedding. Each show will feature a different couple and a new opportunity for the crashers to liven up a wedding. The couples are just a few chosen from more than 25,000 couples who responded to notices on the internet and in wedding magazines. This is definitely one way to make sure your wedding is different... and creative financing for an over-the-top wedding? NBC paid the bill for all of the weddings.

"Everyone loved Wedding Crashers and we wanted to see if we could capture that same kind of inspired frivolity in a real-life series," said Plestis. "Working with Ashton and knowing his memorable experiences with the jokes he pulled off on Punk'd made it that much more enticing. This series has a big upside potential for hidden-camera humor."

Along with Ashton Kutcher (Punk'd, Beauty and the Geek) other executive producers of this reality TV series are Jason Goldberg (Punk'd, Beauty and the Geek), Karey Burke (Miss Guided), Rich Meehan (Big Brother), Jon Kroll (The Amazing Race, Amish in the City) and Jim Rosenthal (Blade: The Series). There is plenty of experience in giving the audience a good show represented in this group.

The series spotlights real couples getting married. They agree to let the wedding crashers add a bit of humor to liven up the festivities and record the laughter and tears on hidden cameras.

The producers promise that there are no mean or cruel stunts and it isn't all comedy. Some of the pranks are emotional episodes designed to bring the families closer together. The end of each show features a revealing where the couple and the wedding crashers let the family and guests in on the secret.

The comics who will star as the crashers are Steve Byrne (Comedy Central Presents), Ben Gleib (The Gleib Show), Desi Lydic (Pepper Dennis), Catherine Reitman (My Super Ex-Girlfriend), and Gareth Reynolds (The Room).
