I really liked Marty but admittedly J.D. did sound more like INXS. As a well deserved consolation prize Marty now gets to open for INXS on their world tour with his band Lovehammers. If you're not familiar with the concept behind this reality show, think American Idol meets big time rock and roll band audition. These cats are vying for a world tour as mega band INXS lead singer. We all know the tragedy that befell INXS's leader singer Michael Hutchence in the late 90's. If you are too young to remember or too old to know or slept through the decade...look it up. It is worth knowing. INXS is not done rocking the music scene yet, and apparently the fans don't want them to fade out quickly or quietly, either. Rock Star : INXS gathered together a talented group of 15 seasoned singers to rock out and compete — viewer voting style — for a chance to become part of rock and roll legend. After weeks of crushed dreams of rock glory, half of the contestants were gone... and the rocky road for the last seven wanna be stars got a little more complicated. The show aired three times a week... On Monday nights, we got the intimate episode where performers reacted to last week's eviction, chose their song for next week from a pre-determined list, and rehearsed their arrangement with the show's band. Low ratings forced Monday night's episode off CBS and onto VH1 for the 'behind the scenes' previews. On Tuesday, the contestants performed before a live crowd at the Mayan Theater in Hollywood. That was followed by text and Web voting by the viewing audience. On Wednesday, the three rockers with the least votes perform an INXS song, and the band ultimately decided who went home and who got one week closer to the life of a Rock Star...
