MAIN Television Samantha Who?

After a hit and run accident that left her in a coma for eight days, Samantha Newly (Christina Applegate) gets a rude awakening.

The doctors explain that she has retrograde amnesia, which means she has retained her general knowledge but can't remember who she is, who she knows, or what she has done with her life up to that point. What she chooses to do is to reinvent herself.

Sam is 30 years old, and vice president of a real estate company named Chapman and Funk, a position she didn't get by being a goodie two shoes. She is appalled at the things she finds out about herself and ways of "evil Sam" and is determined to mend her ways and rebuild the broken relationships in her life.

Her parents Howard and Regina (Kevin Dunn and Jean Smart) are elated to have their daughter back, especially since she wants to talk to them now. Dena (Melissa McCarthy) was Sam's childhood best friend but they haven't seen each other since seventh grade. When Sam's amnesia presents Dena with an opportunity to rekindle this friendship, she takes it.

On the other hand, Andrea (Jennifer Esposito) is Sam's best friend and co-worker when the accident happens. She is not happy at all with the new Sam and wants her old friend back! Todd (Barry Watson) is Sam's ex-boyfriend who helped her through the beginning days of her recovery. Then there is good old Frank (Tim Russ) who is the doorman for the apartment building Todd and Samantha lived in. He gives Sam advice and sometimes he learns a thing or two from Sam.
