MAIN Pop Culture Reality TV Top Chef 6 Las Vegas


When the news was announced that Top Chef was traveling to Las Vegas this season, it left some fans wondering.

Would the show ultimately help class-up the joint — or fall victim to whipping up dishes like, say, casino style shrimp cocktail? Fear not, says judge Padma Lakshmi, "What happens in Las Vegas will be delicious."

This season, Top Chef kicked off with a splashy premiere on Bravo on Wednesday, August 19th at 9 p.m. ET/PT — as a rabid following waited to see who among the 17 new chefs in Season 6 have what it takes to become Top Chef.

Sin City figures prominently as the location where Season 6 contestants will live and play throughout the taping. Meanwhile, set your kitchen timers for this season's spicy dish and spiteful digs as host Padma Lakshmi joins Tom Colicchio, (celebrated culinary figure and co-founder of Craft Restaurants); returning judge Gail Simmons of Food & Wine Magazine; and Toby Young, food critic and best-selling author of the book How to Lose Friends and Alienate People.

Best of all, stay tuned for sometimes fiery personality clashes as quirky and creative chefs try to share a kitchen while battling against each other for the Top Chef title and prizes. 17 contestants - with one less each week - will be living the good life in Vegas for as long as they remain in the competition.

The winner gets $100,000 in seed money to help open a restaurant, a feature in Food & Wine magazine, a showcase at the Annual Food & Wine Classic in Aspen, a gourmet vacation in the French Alps ... and the coveted title of "Top Chef."
